NASPE Hall of Fame Induction!

The National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) has selected Shannon Miller for induction into the NASPE Hall of Fame. Shannon will join a distinguished list of past recipients who include Olympians such as Dan Jansen, Rafer Johnson, Carl Lewis, Billie Jean King, NCAA Champion Coach Pat Summitt, yachtsman and entrepreneur Ted Turner, among others.
The NASPE Hall of Fame honors outstanding individuals who have achieved new levels of excellence in sport; inspired others by their example of what quality, physical activity and sport programs can do to make a better world, and make significant contributions to maintaining sport and physical activity as an integral part of the total education of a child.
Shannon has devoted her time to health and wellness for women and girls and started the Shannon Miller Foundation which is dedicated to fighting childhood obesity through fitness and nutrition.
The banquet will be held during the 125th Annual Convention of the American Alliance for Health, Physical
Education
, Recreation & Dance (AAHPERD) on March 19th, 2010 in Indianapolis. Others to be honored that evening will be the National Physical
Education
Teachers and Athletic Directors of the Year.
