SML Testimonials

Shannon Miller served as the keynote speaker for the annual Women Who Lead Conference at Florida International University in Miami, and our students and community members cannot stop raving about her message!  When asked what was the most important lesson they were taking away from that day, or something they plan to incorporate into their development moving forward, many students quoted Shannon directly.  FIU students have taken the Gold Medal Mindset to heart!  The fact that her message is so amazing, yet presented in a way that’s applicable to anyone’s life, made her points accessible to our audience.  She was practical and inspirational all at once!

-Bronwen Bares Pelaez, Director, Women’s Center, FIU Division of Student Affairs

Thank you again for all your help. (This) not only was our biggest Professional Women’s Luncheon ever, but hands down the best we’ve ever had. Shannon was absolutely wonderful and I am getting emails and call about how much she inspired our attendees.

Shannon did an exceptional job as our Rally Against Cancer keynote speaker.  To use a gymnastics term, she scored a “Perfect 10.”  I really can’t explain how well she connected with our attendees and patients. She was clearly my first choice as our Rally speaker and she did nothing but validate my decision… Please accept my thanks and gratitude for all you have done to help make 2017 Rally Against Cancer our most successful to date.

-Mike Peterson, Director of Development at UnityPoint Health-Des Moines, John Stoddard Cancer Center

Shannon and her team were a delight to work with! Shannon was the Emcee at our Healthiest Companies Awards Luncheon and out did herself. She kept the event moving and did a great job in making the script her own. I’d recommend her to anyone looking for an Emcee. Our team is already looking forward to how and when we can incorporate her again.

-Kathryn Gay, Events Chair, First Coast Worksite Wellness Council

Shannon’s accomplishments and life story were perfect for our Sports Banquet. We sold out immediately and she did not disappoint the crowd. Her message was spot on to the athletes and their families while her delivery was professional yet warm – she connected with the group. Interacting before and after she was also wonderful – sharing her friendly smile and sincere comments.

Being our eight year of doing the banquet and having several other big names be the guest speaker – I heard several people comment that Shannon was “the best ever”. She was definitely a big hit for the event!

- Ed Hruska, Executive Director, Rochester MN Amateur Sports Commission

It was an incredible event, and we all loved hearing everything that Shannon had to say! She inspired us all for sure.

We were so excited to have Shannon Miller back in Oklahoma!  Being the keynote speaker for our 17th Annual Oklahoma Turning Point conference, helped drive home our theme of “Going for the Gold in Health.” The great state of Oklahoma has many positives, but our overall health outcomes need to be greatly improved…  She is a true testament of getting back up in difficult times when trying to accomplish a goal – big and small.  We all felt inspired by reliving her Olympic experience and learning about her battling cancer.  She is living proof that great things and good outcomes are possible in times of adversity. We were also humbly reminded the importance of taking care of ourselves so we can be our best to others.  We feel having Shannon helped draw in this year’s record attendance and waiting list!  Thanks, Shannon, for sharing your story and inspiring us to keep moving forward. We hope to see you back in Oklahoma soon!

- Jill Hazeldine, Director of Public Health Institute of Oklahoma & Oklahoma Turning Point Council committee member

Shannon was such an asset to our event….Her personal story connected with the people attending the event as she shared her fears and her strengths during her recent battle against Ovarian cancer.  Shannon’s message to keep your eye on the larger goal, but focus on what you can do day by day, or even hour by hour resonated with all the people who have been touched by this disease.  So many attending the Soroptimist Vicki Linn Walk commented that Shannon was warm and approachable. and they were in awe at her accomplishments.  I was especially touched by a young women who drove several hours, hoping to meet her gymnastic idol.  Shannon took the time to speak to her and allowed a special moment for pictures.  She was also generous to everyone who wanted a picture, autograph and even allowed others to try on her gorgeous gold medals.

We are so grateful that Shannon was with us for that special day and she certainly made a great contribution to the success of the Vicki Linn Walk for Ovarian Cancer Awareness.

- Andrea De Palatis, The Vicki Linn Walk for Ovarian Cancer Awareness

We had an unbelievable evening yesterday….As I walked the hallways of the hospital this morning I was stopped by so many employees that were in attendance and they commented on how lovely Shannon is, and were blown away by her story. Thanks again from all Shannon’s friends at Jordan Hospital!

- Cat Melendy RN, OCN Breast Health Nurse Navigator, Jordan Hospital Breast Center

We sure hope she had fun, too… we couldn’t have had a better program, thanks to her. Thank you so much for all that you did to make this happen for us. We truly loved her message.

Shannon Miller was the perfect choice of speaker for the Corinne Feller Memorial Fund’s Athletes4Awareness presentation. 700 high school athletes were captivated by her success as a gymnast and battle to beat ovarian cancer. Most importantly, Shannon was refreshingly honest and relatable. The young women left better equipped to advocate for their own health and inspired to work past obstacles.  I highly recommend her!

-Nicole Feller Lee, Founder, Corinne Feller Memorial Fund

Having Shannon as our keynote speaker drew great attention to our Vicki Linn Walk for Ovarian Cancer Awareness. As an Olympic star and an ovarian cancer survivor, she was a role model and inspiration to everyone.

- Frostburg Maryland Soroptimists

“It was thrilling to have Shannon Miller at our ovarian cancer awareness events.  Her inspirational story added an uplifting element to the day, and the video of her Olympic gymnastic success was truly joyful.  Early detection of ovarian cancer and a happy outcome like Shannon’s is the holy grail we hope to make a reality for more women in the future.  Thank you Shannon for adding your voice to our cause.”

- Andrew Berchuck, MD, Director, Gynecologic Oncology at Duke University Medical Center

-Erin Rongers, Executive Director for The Cancer Challenge

We could not have asked for a more warm and engaged individual to make it a special evening for all. (Shannon) took every last photo, signed every last autograph in addition to listening to the personal stories our attendees shared with her about their memories of the Olympics and their experiences with gymnastics and Cancer.

-Judith H. Papo, President of Legal Shred, event co-chair

I would just like to tell you how much the fitness post pregnancy DVD has been so much help to me. I had terrible pelvic pain, mostly after my first child, which inhibited the excerise I could tolerate, including walking. I was in physical therapy for about a year, with some positive results, but never fully recovered. I just had my second child almost a year ago, and have been using these DVD’s for about 3 weeks or so. I have lost 6 pounds and feel great, including my pelvic pain. I only had pain after the first couple times. The strength training DVD workouts are really great for the core, which is what I needed to work on. I also started doing the boot camp DVD workouts, still need to work on some moves, but LOVE it!! Cant wait to be able to buy more of your DVDs. Thank you for putting out such realistic workout DVDs for people like me!

Shannon Miller speaks from the heart about her battle with cancer, and her amazing story really resonates with the Cycle for Survival community. We were fortunate to have her talk about her experience at our indoor cycling events, which was highly motivational for the participants. Her enthusiasm, compassion, and message of perseverance inspired the crowd of riders and supporters. Shannon also delivered an excellent keynote speech at Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Survivorship event in 2014. Working with her and her team is an absolute pleasure. We’re thankful to Shannon for sharing her journey in an empowering and hopeful way!

We can’t thank Shannon enough for being our keynote speaker at “Breakfast at Tiffany’s Fashion Show and Brunch” benefiting Hope for Heather. She was an inspiration to all those in attendance. She gave hope to patients currently undergoing treatment and reminded survivors to cherish every moment. Her compassion toward those who lost loved ones to this insidious disease was overwhelming. Shannon took her time listening to their stories and even sent a personal message of inspiration to a homebound patient that is currently undergoing treatment. She is truly a beautiful soul who is passionate about awareness and research for ovarian cancer.

Those in attendance at the Graves County High School Eagle Foundation’s 3rd Annual “Night With a Champion” were treated to a great speaker, message, and person.  Shannon made everyone in attendance feel that she was speaking directly to them… Everything from selecting the date, to day of event coordination, went smoothly. The personnel from Shannon Miller Enterprises delivered on everything as promised, and were more than responsive to any of our needs relating to our event.

The event was perfect!  Everyone greatly enjoyed hearing Shannon speak and felt very inspired and energized by her talk.  She did an amazing job of tying in our 10 anniversary, industry, and values of our organization as well.  She has an amazing story and tells it so well.  She was very gracious and we greatly appreciated her taking some photos with our sponsors and some of our attendees.

-Katie Henwood, Women’s Industry Network

She won seven Olympic Medals. She won multiple U.S. and World Titles in a career that left her the most decorated American gymnast of all time …and she won our hearts when she came to speak in Fairfield as part of the CT Challenge Speaker Series. As tough as she is tiny, with humor and a heart as big as any world stage, she inspired a crowd of close to 300, including more than 50 cancer survivors, with her take on winning, losing, falling and getting back up to land on top …as an athlete, as a person and in her own victory over ovarian cancer. She was so patient, compassionate and authentic to everyone who came–cancer survivors (young and old), aspiring gymnasts and the general public. Everyone felt lucky to have heard her speak. Her appeal is broad and timeless.

- Jeff Keith, Founder/CEO, CT Challenge

I don’t have enough words to say how gracious, friendly, beautiful, charming, and engaged Shannon was… She was most amazing as a speaker, and she worked with us patiently and with a smile all evening. I am deeply grateful to her for all that she did that evening – her speech was so uplifting, especially for the survivors in the room.

It has been a pleasure working with (her team)…. I greatly appreciate it. I wish SML the very best – we all thank Shannon for the great memories!

-Runsi Sen, Founder, President & CEO of Ovarcome

Just a note of thanks for the terrific job Shannon did in speaking at our educational session in Las Vegas. We received a number of compliments on the presentation, and she was  the centerpiece to making it a success. In addition, the meet and greet was a great opportunity for attendees to come to our booth and speak with her.

We are proud to be associated with such a first class professional.

 -Paul Brough, Pinnacle Health

As the most decorated American gymnast, Shannon Miller was a perfect choice as the keynote speaker for GymConUSA. The story of her struggles and triumphs during her career inspired a room full of coaches and gym owners. However, higher level themes she discussed like goal setting, perseverance, and positive attitude would touch any group she addresses at the human level.

-Stacy Finnerty, Vice President, Tumbl Trak & Conference Manager, GymConUSA

We want to personally thank Shannon for being part of the Sports and Fitness Tech Summit at the 2014 CES in Las Vegas. The positive feedback that we received for the conference has been very gratifying. We work  hard to make the day run smoothly and keep our audience engaged, but without the contributions of our participants, we have no chance of an entertaining and informative conference.

Shannon’s keynote was ideal, a perfect conclusion to the day’s proceedings. You have lived quite a life already and serve as a wonderful role model for people, fit or not. Finally, her graciousness was certainly appreciated at the end of a long and sometimes stressful day.

-Julie and Peter Sylvester, Consumer Electronic Tradeshow 2014

Shannon Miller was the guest speaker at our annual Ladies Luncheon. Her talk about her cancer experience gave hope to many in the audience. Shannon was engaging, energetic, and powerful – an unforgettable evening for our students and faculty. Mercy College School of Business enthusiastically embraces the ‘Olympic mind set’.

- Dr. Robyn Lubisco, Assistant Professor, Mercy College

I can’t begin to tell you how outstanding she was.  What really set the stage for her presentation was her video on her winning the Gold!  You could hear a pin drop when she spoke. When her petite little frame stepped up to the podium, no one had any idea she was going to blow them away with her amazing story.  She brought everyone to tears. So many of the doctors came up to me and said, “Sandy, do you remember when she did that vault?  I remember it, and I remember praying for her to make it!”  She touched the hearts of everyone in attendance.

With her struggles to win the Gold at the Olympics, she was being prepared to face other challenges in her life.  God gave her the strength, courage, hope and love to face any adversity that would come her way in life. She shared her story so that those in the audience who thought she was just an “Olympic Champion” knew she was much more than that.  She is the bright and shining star that has endured more than her share of pain and suffering. Her encouragement to others to stay healthy, eat healthy, and to exercise to stay fit is crucial, because we never know what the future holds for any of us.  Her story of strength, courage, hope and never giving up, gave to each of us there the example and encouragement for each of us to follow.  I still receive compliments on her presentation and for reaching out to her to speak to our physicians and their wives.

Thank you, Shannon, for sharing your evening with us. You are truly an amazing young lady!

-Sandy Deeba, CME Manager for the Oklahoma State Medical Association
