Spotlight on Team Fit Future Athlete Cassie Denney
Author: Jackie Culver
Sadly, the 2013 Spring Session of the Shannon Miller Foundation’s Team Fit Future has come to a close. However, success stories last forever!
Meet Team Fit Future athlete Cassie Denney. Cassie was a standout amongst the superstars in this training session. During this twelve week training and fitness program, Cassie managed to take over three minutes off of her personal best 5K time! That is HUGE!!!
I had the opportunity for a little Q & A with her after the Shannon Miller Lifestyle Women’s 5K.
TFF: How did you find out about Team Fit Future and what motivated you to sign up for this training and fitness program?
Cassie: I heard about it from a friend. I signed up as a walk/runner and wanted to really get running. I felt like I needed the accountability of a group to help me get to the next level.
TFF: So the group atmosphere made it a little more difficult to skip workouts?
Cassie: Yes, plus I liked being around the more experienced runners. They help motivate me to really get the most out of our workouts.
TFF: We did a lot in addition to the Group runs and walks. There was Yoga, Boot Camp, Cooking Classes, Clinics, etc. What did you like best?
Cassie: I really like the shoe fitting clinic. Having the right shoes has made a big difference for me. I also loved the Whole Foods Market cooking classes! I am still making one of the smoothies every day! (see recipe below)
TFF: So should we expect to see you in the next training session?
Cassie: I can’t wait!
