You most likely already have some of the treatments in your home! We have also broken them down into a shopping list for you if you are interested in keeping them on hand just in case you need them!
Sore Throat
As soon as you feel a sore throat coming on, mix an 8 oz glass of water, one tablespoon of honey, and one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. It will help to bring down the inflammation in your throat and fight off infections.
Stuffy Nose
Drink a small glass of water with one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, and it will help to open the nasal passages.
Heartburn
Drink some water with a few spoonfuls of baking soda the next time you have heartburn and it will almost instantly soothe your heartburn. Warning: If you are supposed to be watching your sodium intake, baking soda aka sodium bicarbonate contains a high amount of sodium, so this may be an option you want to avoid.
Diarrhea
If a bacterial infection is at the root of you diarrhea, apple cider vinegar can help contain the problem, thanks to its antibiotic properties. Drink a glass of water with one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar to help settle your stomach. If your diarrhea persists, please contact your primary care physician.
Constipation
Aloe vera can help relieve constipation by acting as a gentle laxative. Drink 2 to 3 oz of aloe vera juice to help relieve your constipation. Aloe vera juice also has dozens of other benefits. Find it at a Whole Foods or other health food store near you.
Muscle Cramps/Soreness
Add 2 tablespoons ACV and a little honey to a glass of water at night and drink to ease nighttime leg cramps or to help recover from a hard workout.
Sunburn
The tannins in black tea soothe skin, speed recover, and reduce peeling, so that sunburn is more likely to turn into a tan. Simply fill a very hot bath with 6-12 teabags(or more depending on the size of the tub), family size bags work great for this, let the tea bags over-steep until the water is almost black, once the water has cooled to a comfortable temperature, soak in the tub for at least 30 minutes. Be sure to stay hydrated, and moisturize once you get out of the tub.
Warts
Studies show that duct tape is more effective at removing warts than costly at home treatments. Simply cut a piece of duct tape that will extend about 1/4″ larger than the wart. Place the duct tape on the wart and leave for 6 days.
Toe Nail/Foot Fungus
If you struggle with foot funkiness, toenail fungus, or athlete’s foot, soaking your feet once a week in Listerine, or the similar store-brand mouthwash can help kill the bacteria and the funkiness. It also helps to keep your feet soft. Just beware, the blue kind will stain your feet!
