4 Tips to Help You Get Your ZZZ’S!

We all need a good night’s sleep.
The reality is that 18 million Americans suffer from a sleep disorder without realizing it. Sleep deprivation can cause weight gain, loss of concentration and energy, higher stress and can seriously impact our health.
What you eat and drink can certainly affect whether or not you get a good nights’ rest. If you’re having a tough time finding your zzz’s try these 4 easy tips:

Avoid caffeine:
Not a big surprise but you may need a little reminder. It can take hours for caffeine to work its way through your system. Shoot for no caffeine after 2pm.

“Breakfast like a King, Lunch like a Prince, Dine like a Pauper”:
Forget about that heavy high in fat meal before bed. Eating 6 small meals throughout the day is the best way to keep your energy up and your metabolism moving. However, if you’re not quite ready to make that leap then focus on making your larger meal in the morning, mid-sized in the afternoon and light in the evening.

Take a break from spicy foods:
Avoid heartburn and sleep sound.

Re-think the alcohol:
Yep, that’s right. Alcohol may initially help you fall asleep it will work against keeping you asleep.
