Food Allergies…In Case You’ve Been Wondering…

As if we don’t worry enough about food already – what to eat, what not to eat, how much to eat – some of us have to worry about allergic reactions to foods.
If the idea of food allergies has been keeping you up at night, you’ve come to the right place. If your child is allergic to egg, milk, or soy, the likelihood of them outgrowing this is high. Unfortunately, often times when people develop allergies as adults, they do not outgrow them. Interestingly, when foods are eaten on a regular basis, this increases the chances of a person developing allergies to that food. For example, rice allergies are more common in Japan than in the U.S. Check out some common allergies below for infants, children, and adults.
For infants and children, the most common allergic reactions result from eating the following food items:
- Egg
- Milk
- Peanut
- Tree nuts like walnuts
- Soy (more so in infants)
- Wheat
For adults, the most common allergic reactions results from eating the following food items:
- Shellfish like shrimp, crayfish, lobster, and crab
- Peanut
- Tree nuts
- Fish such as salmon
